LAUREN & JOHN-MORGAN - PART ONE

You may have seen the post before this with Lauren's boudoir session. That was pretty much all about her. This post is about the day before their wedding. Kevin and I love to go to the rehearsal to introduce ourselves and feel out the crowd. Their rehearsal was in the morning, and it went so well. Lauren and John-Morgan didn't take their eyes off of each other, and they were both wearing huge grins all day.

Lauren asked if we could grab a few shots of them before their rehearsal dinner at Dudley's in Lexington. We said yes, and met them on Mill Street for a few quiet moments before their families arrived at the restaurant. Dudley's is located on the corner of Mill & Maxwell in Lexington, and if you've ever been to Lexington you'll know that this is one of the most quaint streets in the city. Somehow, though it's right next to downtown Lexington, it's quiet. We were so happy to give Lauren and John-Morgan their only "alone time" that day.

I'm pretty sure they're laughing at Kevin. When they kissed, Kevin called out, "Gross!" from across the street.. He's so good at breaking the ice.

I love this tree. I love this kiss. I love this Love.

And then we found a ladybug.. They're considered good luck, you know. Even better luck the day before your wedding, of course.

Oh. My. Gosh. Her expression.. His expression.. It's almost too much.

Lauren and John-Morgan were great sports about this entire short session before dinner. They acted completely nature the whole time, and they were hardly even aware of our shutters clicking happily to catch all of their wonderful expressions. They are so in love.

Just wait until you see the wedding photos. Just. Wait.

SOWERS FAMILY SNEAK PEEK

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing the Sowers family in downtown Lexington. Not only was it a beautiful day in Kentucky, but everyone was amazing in front of the camera! Kevin and I really did have a blast hanging out with this family. I'm not sure we're allowed to call this work.

Here's a little sneak peek from the session. More coming soon!

KARMESHA - HEADSHOTS

If you don't know it by now, I absolutely adore musicians. (Actually, I adore all artists, but I have a special place in my heart for musicians.) I've done a ridiculous amount of headshots for a lot of the students in the opera program at the UK School of Music, and Karmesha is another one of those students. She's going to finish her Master's this Spring, she's in Sigma Alpha Iota, and she's gorgeous. See for yourself:

Karmesha was so wonderful to work with, and we even got a preview of one of her outfits for her Master's recital.

I love this job. Talented + photogenic? I'm majorly jealous.

This weekend, I have a family session scheduled. I'm so excited that the weather is going to rock. It's about time!

Stephanie -- headshots

One great headshot session after another. I can not get enough of these opera singers! Seriously, the best models ever. The. End.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of working with Stephanie. It's getting a little cold for early-morning photoshoots (my favorite), but Stephanie was a great sport. It even started to warm up a little toward the end! Right, Stephanie? ;)

We started off at the Opera House downtown... Could you think of a better place to start with an opera singer?

Oh my gosh, Stephanie has the best smile. She was probably laughing at one of my jokes. Or... The fact that it was freezing and we were still outside doing headshots. Whatever.

The leaves are finally changing! Beautiful!

In my favorite alley off of Mill Street.

In this last picture Stephanie is holding onto a lamp post and leaning back. I had to be sure to warn her that we weren't talking about "Singing in the Rain" kind of leaning..!

Ok, so I thought I was going to get two posts in today... Sorry! Look for Erin's Trash the Dress session tomorrow. I promise!

Jessica -- headshots

After Amanda's kickin' headshot session, I started getting calls from a bunch of students in the School of Music at UK asking me to do their headshots, too. Next on my list was Jessica.

Let me tell you, I'm starting to have a soft spot in my heart for these vocalists. Jessica was awesome in front of the camera, just like Amanda. Workin' it:

Jessica was telling Kevin and I that she was studying at NEC, but came down here with her vocal professor to finish up her degree. Kevin and I were stunned that after Boston and New York City someone would volunteer to come to Lexington!

During part of our session we were walking around and using some stone walls outside of a church downtown. Jessica had to go into the church to do a wardrobe change, and the people milling around in there started asking her who she was... We had just been joking around about how we should start telling people that she was doing promo shots for a movie coming out next year. This shot really reminds me of those old Hollywood headshots from the '40s.

I was insanely jealous of Jessica's clothing choices, and this dress was my favorite. I love, love, love the "dresses with pockets" trend, and anyone who knows me knows that I'm also a fan of vintage-inspired clothing. When I'll ever have the occasion to wear anything like this is beyond me... Oh, well. Jessica was workin' it!

Happy Friday to everyone! Has it really been another week?! More headshots lined up this weekend, as well as some quality rest and relaxation.
